Private Dalyan Tour

Dalyan History:

  1. Ancient City of Kaunos: The history of Dalyan dates back to ancient times, with the nearby ancient city of Kaunos being an important settlement. Kaunos was an ancient Carian city and port, with historical ruins such as the Acropolis, a theater, and rock-cut tombs.
  2. Lycian and Carian Influence: Over the centuries, the region has been influenced by various civilizations, including the Lycians and Carians, before coming under Roman and Byzantine rule.

Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta caretta):

  1. Conservation Area: One of the most notable aspects of Dalyan is its significance as a nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles. The Iztuzu Beach, located near Dalyan, serves as an important nesting ground for these turtles.
  2. Conservation Efforts: The loggerhead turtles, also known as caretta carettas, are a protected species in Turkey. Efforts have been made to ensure the conservation of their nesting sites, and there are strict regulations in place to protect the turtles and their eggs.

Dalyan Spring Water:

  1. Sulphur Springs: Dalyan is also famous for its therapeutic sulphur springs. The thermal mud baths and hot springs in the area are believed to have healing properties. Visitors often enjoy a relaxing experience in these natural baths.
  2. Natural Beauty: The Dalyan River, surrounded by lush landscapes, is another attraction. The river meanders through reed beds and is known for its scenic beauty. Boat tours along the Dalyan River provide visitors with a chance to appreciate the natural surroundings.

Dalyan’s combination of historical sites, natural beauty, and its commitment to turtle conservation makes it a unique and popular destination in Turkey. Visitors can enjoy both the rich cultural heritage of the region and its stunning natural features. Book Private Dalyan Tour with us and have a relaxing day out!
